چکیده

ObjectiveLittle evidence is available supporting the optimal treatment of type II endoleaks associated with aortic sac growth. Previous studies have lacked comparisons between methods and long-term follow-up. The purpose present study was to review our center's experience comparing Onyx (a liquid embolization agent consisting ethylene vinyl alcohol; Medtronic, Minneapolis, Minn) coil embolization.MethodsA retrospective prospectively collected data from a vascular surgery database performed identify all patients who had undergone endoleak for growth after endovascular aneurysm repair 2005 2018. groups were compared using univariate statistics.ResultsA total 58 77 procedures either (27 patients; 37 procedures) or coils (31 40 procedures). average size at larger in group (77.9 ± 15.1 mm) (73.4 11.9 mm). mean follow-up 57 months 74 group. Of 27 embolization, 2 (7.4%) required graft explantation 5 31 (16.1%) (P = .33). results per-patient analysis showed that significantly greater rate need further reintervention (55% vs 19%; P < .01). Clinical success observed 13 (48%) 10 (32%) .04). Two each presented secondary rupture attempted embolization.ConclusionsType treated less likely require reinterventions than those embolization. A trend found toward explant With high potential rupture, diligent regardless technique used.

Improving the results of transarterial embolization of type 2 endoleaks with the embolic polymer Onyx

INTRODUCTION Type 2 endoleaks (T2E) occur in 10 to 20% of patients after endovascular abdominal aortic aneurysm repair (EVAR) and remain a significant clinical issue. AIM To evaluate the efficacy and clinical outcomes of transarterial treatment of persistent type II endoleaks after EVAR using the liquid embolic Onyx. MATERIAL AND METHODS From February 2012 to August 2015 transarterial T2E e...

Desaturation during Onyx embolization.

Editor—The Onyx Liquid Embolic System (Onyx; Micro Therapeutics, Inc., Irvine, CA, USA) is a new non-adhesive liquid embolic agent and is currently being used at our institution in the embolization of cerebral vascular lesions. The disadvantage of Onyx is that it is dissolved in dimethyl sulphoxide (DMSO). Systemic toxicity, such as pulmonary oedema, bronchospasm, bradyarrhythmia, and even card...

Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Type II Endoleaks

Type II endoleaks occur commonly following endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR). Although they remain enigmatic, multiples studies have evaluated preoperative risk factors and strategies for prevention of type II endoleaks. Prophylactic treatment of type II endoleaks can include embolization of accessory arteries, as well as complete aneurysmal sac occlusion. Regular post-operative surveillance ...

Type II endoleaks: challenges and solutions

Type II endoleaks are the most common endovascular complications of endovascular abdominal aortic aneurysm repair (EVAR); however, there has been a divided opinion regarding their significance in EVAR. Some advocate a conservative approach unless there is clear evidence of sac expansion, while others maintain early intervention is best to prevent adverse late outcomes such as rupture. There is ...

Coil embolization for the treatment of ruptured dissecting vertebral aneurysms.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Proximal occlusion of the parent artery has been widely used for treatment of vertebral dissecting ruptured aneurysms, but this does not always completely prevent rerupture. We retrospectively studied 24 consecutive patients for clinical characteristics and/or for efficacy of occlusion with detachable coils at the site of dissection. METHODS During a 45-month period, 24...
